1850 Transport Service Switch

The Alcatel-Lucent 1850 Transport Service Switch (TSS) supports any mix of traffic, from all-circuit to all-packet, for seamless transformation to the Packet Transport Network (PTN). With these Packet Optical Transport (POT) switches, service providers can cost-effectively migrate from MSPP SDH/SONET to PTN, ensuring deterministic behavior, scalability, reliability and strong OA&M.

The 1850 TSS platforms provide converged support for Carrier Ethernet and SDH/SONET, connection-oriented support for packet services, integrated WDM/ROADM for carrier-class transport, and scalable hardware-based OA&M.

With the 1850 TSS, service providers can fully leverage existing SDH/SONET network infrastructure and at the same time deploy robust packet transport with rich-featured Ethernet using the same platforms. Service providers can offer a complete array of TDM and packet services regardless of the underlying transport, using models that range from metro aggregation to CPE.
