How the ArcelorMittal Orbit evolved from a chance conversation into an iconic London landmark

The ArcelorMittal Orbit is a world-class landmark celebrating the London 2012 Olympics – and a lasting symbol of ArcelorMittal’s commitment to supporting artistic and sporting endeavours. The sculpture is a central feature of the Olympic Park and consists of a continuous loop lattice of tubular steel, which is 114.5m high and makes ArcelorMittal Orbit the tallest sculpture in the UK. It celebrates steel’s beauty, strength and versatility, and ArcelorMittal’s continuous commitment to innovation and dedication to transforming tomorrow.

Sixty per cent of the 114.5-metre emblematic sculpture designed by Anish Kapoor and Cecil Balmond is made of ArcelorMittal recycled steel
