THREE TYPES OF HORIZONTAL DRILLING TOOLS:

One piece pilot bits are available for all sizes. It is anyhow recommended that all systems from 711 mm and bigger will be made with threaded shank to avoid stress concentrations in diameter change areas. Separate threaded shanks and Thru shanks are available for 508 mm and bigger casing sizes. Separate shank design offers big savings as the shank normally lasts longer than the bit head and the same shank can be used for several different sizes and on the other hand distributors can stock different shank styles and bit heads separately thus being able to give better service to customers.
