Ericsson Response and the hard work of connecting Nepal after disaster

By: 18 June, 2015,

Editor’s note: Today we feature a guest post from Alberto Juárez Casado, Services Engineer in Competence Domain Radio Access Network:

First of all, I want to start with an example of a normal day on a mission:

Call to register a new user, visit a new camp [a Doctors Without Borders (MSF) hospital] and consider how we can provide connectivity with not so much equipment, unload cement bags from a MSF truck, help to build a tent, revive a computer, install two new printers in the OCHA office, pointing a C band VSAT in the WFP logistics base, visit the Red Cross guest house to see if everyone is connected, wash clothes in the bathtub, shower, eat dinner and at 21:00 go to bed (remember that I am Spanish, and usually at 21:00 we are starting to think what to have for dinner).
