There are many Filtering Media specialized for retaining different contaminants.
They are added in tanks according to design that is defined by flow of work, type of contaminant to be removed, the type of water to be treated and the quality of the water that is expected to complete the process.
Gravel or Sand
Sand grains form a layer that retains dirt present in the water. The finer the grain, the smaller the particles retained.
The quartz sand or gravel does not alter the physico-chemical characteristics of water.
Uses:
Anthracite (According to AWWA Standards)
Granular mineral coal is less dense than sand, therefore is installed on the top of media filters as filtration media for water clarification in combination with sands of different grain sizes.
Activated Carbon
Adsorbs organic compounds that produce odor, taste, color or toxicity. Reduces free chlorine.

Natural Garnet
