Distillation for Biochemicals
Isolation and purification are key steps in the production of chemicals using biotechnology, and challenges must be overcome to meet product quality requirements. GEA offers reliable, energy-efficient technologies for distillation that will achieve your required product purity.
We provide distillation technology to purify monomers for polymer production. For example:
• 1,4 or 2,3 butanediol (BDO)
• 1,2 propanediol (PDO)
• iso-butanol
• Ethylene glycol (EG)
GEA also offers distillation technology to rectify and recover solvents, such as ethanol, isopropyl alcohol and cyclohexane, which are widely used to extract or precipitate target compounds from fermentation broths or natural materials. Solvents recovered by distillation can then be recycled back into the production process.
