IP for the Networked Society enables service providers to grow their businesses profitably. It allows them to create and offer differentiating services with agility and efficiency. The constant development of new mobile devices, new cloud applications and new IP technologies brings tremendous opportunities for operators to expand in such areas as M2M and other business models.
Apart from decoupling services from resources, together SDN and NFV enable life cycle management to be detached from physical constraints. Today, for example, it is possible to provision an SDN/NFV service instantaneously without the need to deploy new physical resources. This flexibility is the foundation of network agility.
By 2020, advanced mobile technology will be ubiquitous around the globe, unlocking the potential for mass-scale transformation. Smartphone subscriptions will have more than doubled and 70% of the world’s population will be using smartphones.
