The problem

Waste Resources Limited situated at Auckland International Airport, operates an incinerator facility. This operation burns waste material from all inbound aeroplanes to the airport, inbound ships from the ports of Auckland and Tauranga and medical waste from various hospitals and surgeries.

Under the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries quarantine policy certain food, plants, animal products etc. are not allowed onto New Zealand soil. It is the responsibility of each airline or boat entering the country to ensure that it destroys any such substance. Hospitals and surgeries have waste products including bandages, needles and syringes that need to be destroyed. Waste Resources’ furnace can take care of all of these needs.
