Meeting the requirementsAt Volvo Trucks we believe that Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology is a good alternative for complying with Euro 4 emission legislation. SCR is a well-proven and reliable technology without limitations in horsepower output. SCR also represents the most fuel-efficient solution among the techniques available for Euro 4 and Euro 5.

The benefit of the SCR method is that it can be adapted for both Euro 4 and Euro 5 compatibility. For the Euro 5 engine, for instance, more AdBlue is injected in order to further reduce nitrogen oxide levels. For Euro 4, the additive corresponds to about 3-4% of the amount of fuel, and for Euro 5 about 5-7%.
