Client’s Need

With an in-production open pit operation, the client required assistance with developing a new approach for mining two kimberlite pipes.

GEOVIA’s Solution

GEOVIA’s PCBC software experts implemented and provided training for PCBC and PCSLC, working with the client to determine the best mining method for each pipe. Evaluating options for the first pipe, GEOVIA helped the client to decide whether to use sub-level caving (SLC), and for the second pipe, whether to mine using either SLC or a block cave, or to use a block cave followed by SLC. The operation was trained how to generate production schedules for combined block cave and sub-level caving scenarios, and in using PCSLC for scheduling and sequencing of mining and dilution estimates.
