Touch is instinctual. Our need for it begins in the womb. Touch comforts and nurtures us. We use touch to perform tasks throughout the entire day; we use our hands constantly to turn things on and off, to open and close objects – basically to do anything.
Today, communicating through touch is one the most effective and simple ways humans connect with one another, especially with the rapid penetration of smartphones and tablets.
What if through touch we could do more than turn something on or off, lift or carry an object and so on? What if we could use the human body as a wire? What if we could use it as a part of a communication network?
While not quite there, the devices entering today’s market such as smartphones and tablets reflect an understanding of how we interact with one another and how important the sense of touch is to our everyday lives.
