Greensand Filters

The Green Sand Filter is a special type of multilayer filter that is used to remove iron (Fe), manganese (Mg) and Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) in the water either dissolved or suspended. This type of filter requires of a weak solution of potassium permanganate for regeneration

This kind of filter is the oxidizing type, oxidizing the Iron, Manganese and / or Hydrogen Sulfide dissolved, making them insoluble for then be retained in the filter material. In addition, although is not its specific function, is capable of doing mechanical filtration.

Applications

• Removal of iron and / or manganese

• Removal of Heavy Metals (Arsenic).
