Higher government-mandated CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards are right around the corner. In the United States, cars must achieve 36 mpg by 2015, 42 mpg by 2020, and 54.5 mpg by 2025.
Consumers overwhelmingly want better fuel economy – provided they can afford vehicles that deliver it.
Automakers must meet regulations and deliver what consumers want.
The question is how.
