Gas tight suits are fully encapsulating suits providing a full hermetical seal against the environemt in order to protect against hazardous gases and vapours. Gas-Tight suits according to EN 943 are of four variants:-
| Type 1a | Gas-Tight encaspulationg suit with fully independant SCBA worn INSIDE the suit |
| Type 1b | Gast-Tight encapsulating suit with fully independant SCBA worn OUTSIDE the suit |
| Type 1c | Gas-Tight encapsulating suit with breathable air and positive pressure supplied by a remote airline |
| Type 2 | Non Gas-Tight encapsulating suit with breathable air and positive pressure supplied by a remote airline |
The standard Interceptor is a Type 1a suit – a gas-tight suit with independant SCBA worn inside the suit.
