The drill and blast engineer puts the finishing touches on tomorrow’s blast design and decides to check emails before logging off for the day. There is an email from operations. Blast requirements have changed. Two smaller blasts are being combined so a revised design is needed for the blast crew.

This isn’t unusual – mine sites are dynamic environments with designs and plans constantly changing. Using conventional drill and blast software to create the new blast pattern would mean a long night at the desk. And an even longer one if relying on spreadsheets!
