Slurry Calculator Help

Introduction

The Paterson & Cooke Slurry Toolkit is a simple calculator of slurry properties. Use it to determine the concentration of the slurry if you know the density or vice versa. It is also a useful tool to determine slurry flow properties.

The toolkit is meant for use by engineers, technicians and students.

Definitions

% volume concentration: the ratio of volume of the solids to the total volume of the mixture.% mass concentration: the ratio of the mass of the solids to the total mass of the mixture.

Solids density: the ratio of the mass of the solids to its volume occupied by the solids. Note do not confuse this with bulk density. The volume occupied by the solids in this case is the displaced volume.

Mixture density: the ratio of the mass of the mixture to its volume occupied by the mixture.Mixture: a fluid consisting of solids and a liquid. This term is used interchangeably with slurry in this context.

Pipeline velocity: average fluid velocity inside the pipeline specified by the internal diameter.
