Best Practices for Developing Relationships between Indigenous Communities and Large and Medium Mining Companies

Between November 2012 and April 2013, Poch developed a study to identify the best practices for developing long-term relationships between indigenous communities and mining companies. The project was funded by the Ministry of Mines of Chile and the World Bank and its objective was to identify the best practices currently held by large and medium mining companies, which are recognized as such by the indigenous communities in Northern Chile. The study was based on the current environmental regulatory framework, as well as on international agreements on indigenous peoples subscribed by Chile.
