REHAU redefines side impact protection

In addition to many technical innovations, the “Citroën C4 Cactus” also offers exciting detail with respect to safety. Polymer specialist and automotive supplier REHAU has developed a new generation of side impact protection for the model range: “Airbump” impact absorbers filled with air and fitted on the long side of the bodywork.

This involves innovative door panelling based on air-filled capsules in polyurethane, a thermoplastic that stands out for its high level of flexibility. If the vehicle is subjected to a side impact, the capsules can sink in by up to two centimetres then return to their original shape. This offers protection that is in demand particularly in the traffic of large cities or in car parks.
