An ever-present material in our daily lives, steel is long-lasting and 100 percent recyclable. As one of the few magnetic metals that is easy to separate from other metals, steel is easy to recycle. The recycling process preserves the inherent properties of the material, meaning recycled steel is as strong and durable as steel made from iron ore. As a result, the use of recycled steel creates savings in energy and material use where ore-based production can be avoided.
