Displace fluids from the borehole
CT injected through nitrogen displaces fluids from the borehole, and potentially dangerous gases from pipelines and pressure vessels, and also conducts pressure/leak tests.
Jetting wells
During coiled tubing jetting, nitrogen is used to displace fluids from the borehole. As the fluids are displaced and the pressure exerted on the reservoir decreases, the hydrocarbon begins to flow.
Displacing vessels
Nitrogen is also used to displace potentially dangerous gases from pipelines and pressure vessels, as it is inert and hence, nonflammable.
Pressure/leak testing
In addition, nitrogen can be used for pressure/leak testing as part of the process of commissioning installations.
