Build Up and Hardfacing
Hardfacing is a technique which consists of depositing a coating on a surface to provide resistance to abrasion, erosion, peeling, cavitation or metal to metal wear. The alloys that we use for hardfacing are hard alloys (martensitic steels, cobalt alloys, tungsten carbides, etc.) that are placed on mechanical parts, in order to increase their lifetime in an economical way. However, rebuilding is the reconstruction process that allows a part back to be replaced to its original state, with filler metals, of composition and or mechanical properties, that are similar to the original material of the part.
