Copper / Bronze

The copper alloys are mainly chosen because of their excellent properties which are : high ductility, superior electrical and thermal conductivity, and good atmospherically corrosive resistance.

The different alloys which are brass (Cu-Zn), bronzes (Cu-Sn, Al-Si, Cu-Al), cupronickels (Cu-Ni), alloys Cu-Be, etc are dedicated to various applications such as corrosion resistance (atmospherical, chemical and navy), metal to metal resistance, thermal conductivity, etc.

In addition, the copper is also used in addition in some stainless steel alloys such as precipitation hardening alloys, ex : 17-4PH and the austenitic alloys like 20 and 904L alloys. It helps in the formation of a hardening phase for the first and to improve the corrosion resistance in aggressive environments (marine environment, sulfuric acide, etc).
