90 adventurers wanted….Sodexo meets the Dakar Rally challenge.

For the 5th year running, Sodexo is bringing to the Dakar Rally (January 5-20), a real-life adventure where basic comforts become great luxuries. To keep a moving population of 2,500 fed well, on time and with practised expertise, Sodexo puts together a team of 90 very special individuals. How do we do it? We asked Lorena Di Verniero and Raul Mendoza, Sodexo’s Human Resources managers in, respectively, in Argentina and Peru.

What makes the event so tough for our teams?Lorena Di Verniero: “As the rally drivers race through Peru, Argentina and Chile, our team members anticipate their every move – covering more than 8,000 km in 15 days. It’s difficult, physically and emotionally. Our people work up to 12 hours a day in hot, dusty conditions, often doing several jobs. Everyday risks include sunburn, dehydration and wild animals, not to mention logistical challenges that keep us busy 24 hours a day. Yet somehow, our teams do it all with a smile!”
