By 2030, the UN estimates that 40% of the world’s population will lack adequate housing. In a rapidly changing and urbanizing world, the provision of adequate and affordable housing remains a key priority.
The Challenge
According to the UN, by 2030, about 3 billion people – about 40 percent of the world’s population – will be in need of proper housing and access to basic infrastructure such as water and sanitation.
- Make deep cuts in that consumption and the resulting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
- Help to make new structures more resilient and last longer
- Help make new and existing structures more comfortable and healthier for occupants, while using fewer resources
