The efficient and safe management of industrial, mining and domestic waste must be carried out in compliance with the current regulations and legislation in force. As follows, we will detail the main rules governing this activity in Chile and the operations of Hidronor Chile. The enactment of Law N° 19.300/97 in 1994 laid the foundations for the General Environmental Requirements. In regard to the natural environment, this law provided legal tools that filled in critical gaps in the Chilean legislative system thus acknowledging the national authorities’s commitment to the sustainable development and the surrounding’s protection.

The Law N° 19.300/97, in turn, gave life to the Environmental Impact Evaluation System to which all investment projects and productive activities must undergo in order to determine the real effects their operations would have on the environment.
