MCI environmental performance has significantly improved since 2007. In particular, relative energy consumption and GHG emissions have dramatically decreased. Energy consumption in 2012, measured relatively to business activity, was only about 70% of the energy consumption reported in 2007, while relative GHG emissions have decreased to less than one third (Fig. 1). Total greenhouse gas emissions have also declined by about 37% in the period 2007-2012 despite a 33% increase in production.
