Hybrid Electric

Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) are an important part of the solution to meeting longer-term greenhouse gas emission regulations. By combining power from both an internal combustion engine and a high-voltage electric source, HEV’s can deliver more than 20 percent fuel efficiency when compared to internal combustion engine vehicles.

The vehicle is run by a battery powered electric source, which is charged by the internal combustion engine. When the vehicle reaches the limit of electric drive the internal combustion engine takes over, increasing driver confidence that the vehicle will take them where they need to go. The most significant fuel economy improvement is generated through city driving – where vehicles experience frequent shorter journeys.
