Project Description: The Burnstone Gold Project requires a significant amount of electricity to operate. As the current supply to the area would not be sufficient to power the mine and other businesses in the area, it was suggested that the current lines that supply electricity from the Grootvlei Power Station be used and upgraded, where possible, and an additional 88 kV powerline be constructed.

Knight Piésold’s Role: Knight Piésold undertook environmental work for the Burnstone Power Line and Mini Sub-station projects. The project involved the compilation of two Basic Assessment Reports and Environmental Management Plans as well as a water use licence.
