- Plans and manages department activities and performance against agreed targets and budgets.
- Establishes and implements necessary communication strategy for the improvement and awareness of quality issues pertaining to the CAD-related documents. Communicates clearly with written and spoken communication throughout all departments.
- Reviews rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from Civil Engineers and oversees the information development and transition to engineering deliverables.
- Undertakes digital terrain modeling using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including generating surfaces, gradings, profiles and corridors. Must be able to manipulate the resulting surfaces and compute earthworks from them.
- Plots maps and charts showing profiles and cross-sections, indicating relation of topographical contours and elevations to buildings, retaining walls, tunnels, overhead power lines, and other structures.
- Drafts detailed drawings of structures and installations such as tailings dam embankments and related facilities, heap leach pads, roads, culverts, fresh water supply systems, sewage disposal systems, dikes, wharfs, and breakwaters.
- Remains current with the most recent AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D updates and patches, and makes recommendations on what should be installed.
- Is proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D interfaces with GIS software and possesses an understanding of the application and implementation of global coordinate systems and can apply conversions when necessary
- Undertakes quality review of drawings prepared by department staff.
- Troubleshoots program errors, evaluates user input methods, and can provide training to users on optimizing methodologies.
