Our Steelmaking Coal Operations

We are the world’s second largest exporter of seaborne steelmaking coal, an essential ingredient in the production of steel. We produce steelmaking coal from five mines in British Columbia and one in Alberta. We wholly own the and mines, and have a 95% partnership interest in the mine and an 80% joint venture interest in the mine.

Our Steelmaking Coal Product

There are different types of coal depending on their carbon content, calorific value and the amount of moisture present. Steelmaking coal is a higher grade coal and an essential ingredient in the production of the steel needed to build critical infrastructure and the products that make our quality of life possible.
